The day's here, and I think the new site is ready (you can find it HERE). I launched it overnight, and I haven't had any complaints or bug reports yet. So, I'm counting that as a win. Still, I'm sure it'll be a work in progress, and as the traffic increases, I'll probably find a few issues. But for now, I'm proud to say that it's working as intended.
Now, this doesn't mean that I'm going to quit posting here. I'll continue to post my single captions and updates as I've always done. However, I probably won't update the peripheral sections of this site quite as often. Instead, I'll be relying on the new site to convey things like publishing schedule updates. I'll also be making some changes to this site to direct people to the new site.
For the people who haven't been following my messages on Patreon, the basics of the new site (and my NEW PUBLISHING SCHEDULE) are as follows.
First, starting next month, I'll be publishing two new caption stories and one new book each month. I'm making this change for a couple of reasons, but the biggest one is that publishing three caption stories each month is a grueling process I just can't keep up. I work quickly, but that amount of work necessitates 10-12 hour days. If I kept that up, I'd burn out (creatively, if not physically). So, I'm backing that down to two, which is much more manageable.
In addition to the risk of burning out, that schedule also prevented me from working on literally anything else. Mostly, that means I wasn't able to write the books I've got planned. Some stories just can't be told via captions (though I've adapted some I didn't really think I could). This new schedule lets me tell those stories.
Second, the pricing structure of the new site will differ from the one offered with Patreon. Instead of a single subscription price for everything, I decided to break it up into two categories: Gold and Platinum.
The Gold Membership is very similar to the Patreon offering in that it gets you access to my caption stories. The Platinum Membership, being a tier above, gets you access to the books as well. You can find out more HERE.
While I've been extremely frustrated with how this has worked out with Patreon, I'm looking at this as a good thing. Not only am I making some changes (to my publishing schedule) that I've been considering for a while, I'm also becoming more independent (in terms of my reliance on a third party). I can only hope you'll all give my new site a chance.
